Mmmmmmmmmm. CHIPS. Kale Chips that is!

It’s true I am a chip monster! There is just something about the crunch factor that I just can’t seem to get enough of.  I wouldn’t be a true hardcore foodie if I didn’t have some food vices up my sleeve to fess up to you.  We all do, really its unavoidable when food tastes as incredible as it does.
When I came across the amazing thing that is kale chips melting in my mouth, I thought I had died and gone to heaven.  I was super - duper extra excited! This is kale? And it is raw? The double WOW factor set in.
I know what you might be thinking: Kale chips?  Sounds dull, gross, boring, too healthy to taste good - but I assure you…
NONE of the ABOVE!!!! Take my word for it; I would not lie about food.
They are crunchy, succulent, scrumptious, flavourful, healthy and easy as hell to make.
I’m not saying you wont be tempted to reach for a bag of deep fried potatoes once in a while, but when you have piles of kale chips readily available at your fingertips in your cupboard… it will be a lot easier to make the healthy choice! They are just as good as chips, without all the extra crap you don’t need to be putting in your body. You are eating living enzymes - chips that are good for you!
Who would have thunk it?
Raw food is the bomb shit. If you don’t get addicted to these amazing morsels, then you should get you taste buds looked at by a doctor!
They are super easy to make too. You make some yummy dressing and you massage it into the kale (or other green leafs), pop it in the dehydrator overnight and voila!!!
Easy as pie, if pie is actually easy.
Some ideas for flavours:
Salt and vinegar
Cheesy nutritional yeast, tahini and lemon
Curry
Dill

Flax, a friend.

Flax is an essential ingredient in every vegan’s diet. It is high in immune enhancing Omega 3-6-9 fatty acids. Flaxseeds help to fight disease, lower bad cholesterol, prevent breast cancer and reduce the risk of heart attack (to name a few benefits). Stuck for a way to get more flax flowing through your system? It may seem a daunting task until you are addicted to the taste and glorious texture of flaxseed crackers! !

You mean to say they are vegan, full of flavour, gluten free, crunchy, raw and healthy too??! Goodbye chemical crackers! Hello amazing party in my mouth!

When flaxseed is mixed with other tasty things, and then added to water and let sit (ten minutes), it gets really gelatinous – forming a paste. You then simply spread - dehydrate 8 hrs – flip – dehydrate 8 hrs! Then voila! They are finished and ready to eat. I have no reason to buy factory made crackers again. Why would I? It is truly an incredible phenomenon. It makes me feel so awesome knowing exactly what ingredients are in my foods, and that I prepared it with love and gratitude.

The scrumpdidlyumptious arrival of flax crackers in my life was welcomed with an open mouth. They are very enjoyable with any kind of dip, pate, guacamole, soup, or sprinkled on a salad. The list is endless. Get creative! You could even make a cracker sandwich if you so desire. If you want to keep it simple just eat them alone.
Get on the cracker train!!!! You will be ever so glad you did.
If you do not have access to an Excalibur dehydrator, I can sell you some of my yummy cracker
creations. J

I made a batch last night, take a peek, and prepare to drool.

Foodie For Life!

The food obsession continues!
Food is my life.
I create it, eat it, read about it, breath it, constantly think about it, talk non-stop about it, write menus, host dinner parties, eat it,  collect food books, educate about it,  organize it, photograph it, and now blog about it!
FOOD! ! !
I've decided to start my blog with desserts. I got hired to make some wheat and sugar free Cakes for a birthday party last week. So the mind set started.. What kind? Which natural sweetener? What kind of frosting? How to decorate the cakes? All the fun questions that go into making an incredible food creation! Yes, I'm a total geek and proud of it.
I decided on making a walnut/raisin triple layered crust with strawberries between layers, topped off with a pecan, cocoa, agave, vanilla bean frosting! YUMMMMMMY! It was damn incredible! Very decadent.
I was actually only hired to make one cake, but I tend to go a bit overboard and was kind of worried there would not be enough cake, and that would just be wrong! Share the love...or cake.
I also made a delicious Carrot Cake with dates, and raisins throughout. It was topped with a coconut frosting, beautifully decorated with a hint of orange shredded carrot.
As I am always in my kitchen making some delicious thing to devour, I will now be sharing my creations with all of you. Check back for salivating photos, recipes and food fun!
